As Peter writes his first letter, he is writing to Christians who are:

• Selected out of the world
• Strangers in the world
• Scattered through the world

From ch 1 v 3 to 2 v 10, Paul wants to remind the Lord’s people that they are SPECIAL people:

• are SAVED – 1 v3-12
• being SANCTIFIED – 1v13-2v3
• to SERVE – 2v4-10
